A well–made foot stool requires strength. Wedged through–tenons and thick, solid mahogany ensure that this one will live up to any strain.
To avoid too great a feeling of heft, delicate, curving chamfers have been carved into to the underneath side of the top, whose ends are also beveled. The legs are tapered in two planes, so that their wide footprint slims as they rise to meet the top.
The result is a piece that is at once reassuringly solid and elegantly poised.
